Your seat in class is not reserved until we receive your student application and deposit. Deposit will be applied toward the cost of tuition. Remainder of tuition is due the first day of class for all classes except the Graduate Bench Jeweler program, which can be paid in monthly installments.
We make every effort to ensure that our students receive the best experiences possible at New Approach School. Our classes are extremely popular, fill quickly long in advance of start dates. To ensure that spaces are reserved for students who are truly committed to attending the classes they have registered for, we have adopted the following policies:
To register for a class, a deposit is required as listed per class. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover or you may pay by check. Unless otherwise instructed by our Registrar, all deposits must be received within 30 days of the start of a class, or your spot will not be held.
Please be aware that many of our classes fill long before that date, so if you plan to attend, please send in your deposit and application as soon as you register.
If paying by check, please send your deposit check ASAP, and allow at least 7 days for your check to arrive. Your spot is NOT reserved until your check clears.
We are an independent, private school dedicated to your success. And although we truly appreciate the commitment and sacrifice necessary to attend our programs, we do not offer financial aid or grants.
Your deposit will be applied toward the cost of the class you register for.
Additional kit fees and taxes will be added to the remainder of tuition as listed per class.
If you find that you are not able to attend a class you are registered for, please notify us by phone and in writing at least 30 DAYS PRIOR to the beginning of class. With at least 30 days notice, you may transfer your deposit toward another class ONE time. Transfers are discretionary, and dependent on enrollment factors and class availability. We reserve the right to process your cancellation without holding on to transfer funds. We cannot guarantee your spot in another class, unless you have written confirmation from our Registrar that you are enrolled and your spot is reserved. Deposits and registrations are not transferrable to another person. Material and kit fees are non-refundable. Refunds of deposits will be issued under the following terms:
* Cancellation request received at least 30 business days prior to class start date - Your deposit will be refunded less a $25 cancellation fee for classes of five days or less, and $50 for Graduate Bench Jeweler program.
* Cancellation request received 8 to 13 business days prior to class start date - 50% of your deposit will be refunded less a $25 cancellation fee for classes of five days or less, and $50 for Graduate Bench Jeweler program, and 7% processing fee, if you paid by credit card.
* Cancellation request received 7 business days or less prior to class start date - No refund or class transfer will be issued.
If you enroll for a class and cancel more than twice, you may not be eligible for enrollment in the future.
Please allow 72 hours for your credit card refund to be processed. If you paid your deposit by check, we will send you a check. Please allow 7 days for your check refund to be processed, and 2 to 5 days for mail delivery time, depending on where you live. We cannot overnight or rush delivery your check refund, unless we deduct the appropriate cost for USPS or UPS charge from your refund, and have your written consent to do so.
Tools, kit fees, shipping fees, gift cards, DVD's and books are not refundable. We cannot give you credit for items purchased elsewhere that may be part of a kit fee, such as books or DVD's. Please understand that even though these items may feature Blaine Lewis, we cannot give you credit for them if they were purchased from another company.
Video & Materials Policy
All materials and coursework, including techniques demonstrated by instructors or staff, may fall under copyrights or licenses held by New Approach School of Jewelry Technology or its affiliates.
To protect both you and any copyright holders from litigation, we ask that you DO NOT publish, share, copy, display or otherwise upload any provided coursework or any captured video footage through video sharing sites, forums, email, other websites, flyers, books, etc. If you are interested in publishing your video footage, please ask our Communications Department about obtaining permission in writing.
You may make printed copies from appropriate materials for your own educational and training use only, unless otherwise noted in the publication.
We ask that you respect this policy to ensure a quality education for future students at New Approach School for Jewelers.
Disclosure of Physical Limitations - Minimum Course Requirements
Attendance at the New Approach School of Jewelers involves periods of prolonged sitting while performing very detailed work with and without magnification equipment. Additionally, students are required to attend classes for eight hours a day enduring periods of work and study significant enough to permit him or her to complete the course at a rapid pace. Accordingly, NASJ asks each student to disclose any physical limitations and/or health matters that may impact the student during their period of instruction:

Eye Sight Correctable to 20/20
Black outs or dizzy spells
Posture or spinal problems
Please NOTIFY US IN WRITING any other medical conditions that may affect your ability to perform the minimum course requirements.
In addition, NASJ requires all students to have an eye exam prior to the first day of class. It is crucial when discussing your vision with your doctor to emphasize the distance at which you will be working. You need to specify that you will be working 8 inches away from your nose. If you are near-sighted and wear contacts, you need to bring your glasses to school as well.
New Approach School for Jewelers does not discriminate unlawfully in any of its programs, procedures or practices against any person on the basis of age, citizenship, color, disability, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status or any other category or classification protected by law.
The student hereby warrants that he or she has disclosed all medical problems to NASJ that may affect his or her performance at the school, and will disclose any and all medical problems in the future, as they become known.
General Release and Waiver
Release and Waiver: In consideration of goods and services provided or to be provided by New Approach School of Jewelry Technology, and the school’s president, Marshall B. Lewis, individually and doing business as New Approach School for Jewelers (hereinafter referred to as “the school,”) the undersigned (hereinafter referred to as “the student,”) hereby acknowledging the above consideration to be good and sufficient to support this General Release and Waiver, hereby completely and forever releases and discharges New Approach School of Jewelry Technology’s past, present and future, it’s general and/or limited agents, employees, employers, attorneys, partner, heir, predecessors and successors in interest, and assigns, from any and all past, present or future claims, demands, obligations, actions, causes of action, rights, damages, costs, expenses and compensation of any nature whatsoever, whether based upon tort, contract or any other theory of recovery, and whether for compensatory or punitive damages or claims for attorney’s fees (hereinafter collectively referred to as “the legal remedies,”) which the student now has or may hereafter acquire, on account of, or in any way arising out of the school’s instruction, demonstration or supervision of student in jewelry manufacturing and/or repair and associated business of the school or otherwise out of the school’s provision of an opportunity for student to engage in any facet of the jewelry instruction business of the school. Furthermore, student hereby waives any and all rights and entitlements, directly or indirectly, to pursue any of such legal remedies arising out of such instruction, demonstration or supervision of student in the jewelry business of New Approach School of Jewelry Technology, or out of New Approach School of Jewelry Technology provision of an opportunity for student to engage in any facet of the jewelry business of NASJ.
General Release and Waiver and Assumption of Risk: The student further acknowledges and agrees that the release and waiver set forth in paragraph I hereof is a general release; that student expressly waives and assumes the risk of any and all claims for money due, compensation or damages which may exist as of this date, but which the student does not presently know or suspect to exist, and which, if known, would materially affect the student’s decision to enter future claims for money due, compensation or damages which may arise or exist in the future; and that the student, while being instructed, shown demonstrations, supervised and/or provided an opportunity to engage in various facets of the jewelry business of the school will be exposed to hand tools and may be exposed to power tools and machinery that is inherently dangerous and that the student expressly waives and assumes the risk of engaging in these activities fully acknowledging that such activities could result in serious bodily injury or even death.
Persons Bound: This General Release and Waiver and the terms, covenants, conditions, provisions, obligations, rights and benefits hereof, shall be binding upon and shall inure to the benefit of New Approach School of Jewelry Technology, and the student and their respective officers, employees, employers, agents, representatives, successors and assigns.
Full Understanding and Acceptance: The student represents that he or she has read this General Release and Waiver in full, completely understands the terms of the Release and Waiver and voluntarily accepts those terms.
In the event that you wish to return a physical item, please call us and notify us in writing as to the reason for your dissatisfaction. Although we occasionally sell tools, we are not a manufacturer. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer of the product if you have difficulty with the tool, or find it defective. If by some chance, we sent you the incorrect item, or it is not what you expected, please call us immediately, and we will deal with it reasonably and fairly. We cannot accept returns because you changed your mind after using the tool for an extended period, or because you would prefer a newer model.
We cannot accept returns without an RMA number that we provide to you once we have spoken and agreed to the terms of the return. Once you have received the RMA number from us, you should mail your product to: 107 Southeast Parkway Court Franklin Tennessee US 37064.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.
If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
By accepting these terms and policies, you are sending your electronic signature acknowledging your acceptance of such when submitting your registration, deposit and payment. Thank you and we look forward to working with you.
