About Rémy Rotenier:
Rémy is a talented artist and natural teacher. Whether you have experience drawing and painting, or none at all, Rémy loves to lead you toward confidence by sharing tips and techniques on how to sketch your designs to bring your jewelry to life in front of the customer. Starting with a pencil to shape, and shade and contour, then moving on to adding dimension with paint, Rémy can teach you in this powerful five-day workshop what you have always wanted to learn in his 2016 NASJ Workshop, Counter Sketching & Color Rendering.
Born and raised in Paris, Rémy received his bachelors degree in jewelry design from the French jeweler’s union BJOP Formation at the Écoles de la Rue du Louvre and received a graduate degree in gemology from the National Institute of Gemology in Paris. In New York, he received a certificate in diamond grading from the Gemological Institute of America.
As an intern at Cristofol Frères in Paris, Rotenier learned classic jewelry rendering and design of jeweled objets d’art including clocks, and desk accessories. He was also employed in Paris by Alexandre Reza and Serge Bouder before Tiffany & Company brought him to New York as a designer. Rémy moved to New Mexico as Design Director for Kabana, Inc. and later established Rémy Design.
With Rémy Design, Rotenier has developed his own collections including Rémy Rotenier for Bella Luce and creates custom designs for private clients. He also teaches jewelry design and rendering privately in New Mexico as well as classes in San Francisco and New York.
Rémy has drawn and painted all his life and studied painting with various instructors and in preparation for admission to the École des Beaux Arts in Paris.
