Deep Relief Engraving & Sculpting

5-day workshop with Jason Marchiafava

In this unique class, students will have hands on training using pneumatic engraving systems for use in deep sculpted engraving & micro chasing on jewelry, precious metal objects and steel items applicable to Hand Engraving Ornamentation.

Topics to be covered consist of:

Work Fixturing for micro-chasing
Graver and micro-punch Preparation
Cutting line work and Patterns for deep relief
Background stepdown and deep removal
Background planishing, & texturing
Pre-Shaping and beveling of ornaments

Micro-chasing
Carving
Beading tool use
Relief around inlay
Inlay background processes
Holding tips and tricks
Framing and Layouts

Prerequisite:

Must have taken a Pneumatic Class. Must know how to use a microscope.

Tuition:

$2,115.83 includes tuition, kit materials fee, and applicable sales tax.
($1,600, Take Home kit fee is $470, tax is $45.83)
