About Allen Ziegler

Allen’s path into the craft began long before his professional training. He has always loved working with his hands and has a mind wired for precision. That instinct led him into advanced machining classes throughout high school, where he thrived in environments that demanded accuracy. Instead of ordering a traditional graduation ring, he designed and made his own — along with other metal projects that sparked his passion for craftsmanship.

Allen later enrolled in the Graduate Bench Jeweler Program at New Approach School for Jewelers, completing his training in 2018. At NASJ, he studied under some of the most influential figures in modern jewelry education:

Blaine Lewis, whose hands‑on approach has shaped jeweler education for decades;

Jason Marchiafava, a world‑class master craftsman whose blend of sculpture, engineering, and fine art set the standard for excellence;

and Drew Hadley, an exceptional stone setter known for precision, technical mastery, and innovation.

Allen’s devotion and talents were recognized by NASJ staff during his time in class. After graduating, Allen spent seven years as the head jeweler at an established store in Sheridan, Wyoming, specializing in custom builds, fabrication, stone setting, repairs, heirloom restoration, and hand engraving. His time at the bench refined both his technical expertise and the workflow‑driven discipline behind his jewelry making.

In 2025 Allen was invited to join the NASJ team, where he helps students build confidence and competence at the bench. He is known for clear instruction, supportive teaching, and the ability to break down complex processes into simple, repeatable steps.

Outside the classroom, Allen continues to create custom jewelry and pursue new techniques that deepen his understanding of the craft. But most of all, he loves spending time with his wife Chelsea and their son Zaiden.
